Drag rivals continued to thrill fans of the genre when it held its second event for 2025 at Vernamfield, Clarendon, on May 3.

“This was our best execution of the event to date. Despite a two and half hour rain delay we wrapped it up safely and before sun down,” Kenneth Timoll of Ken-T Racing, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.

In its efforts to maintain and grow the popularity of drag racing Timoll and his team have been working hard on and off the drag strip. For this meet they added a new grouping to facilitate more excitement, and have been providing free technical data to competitors.

“Besides the new nitrous front wheel drive shoot-out, we’ve acknowledged the importance of getting information across to the competitor plays an essential role in an efficient system,” he said.

On the quarter-mile, Roland Crawford was the fastest overall, taking the Pro Modified 8 second-class victory in a tense battle between himself and Robert Morrison Sr.

In Pro Modified 10, Seymour Anderson raced away the winner of Kevin Jackson.

Pro Modified 11 went to Fabion Thompson. Josimar Anguin took the 12 second class.

Pro Street was won by Delroy Porter. Super Street 14, 15, and 16 were won by Karmin Fenton, Lorenso Virgo, and Gregory Rowe respectively.

Timoll and his team are already prepping for the next event in August.

“Event after event, we’ve proven to be able to improve on our performance on the racing side of things. However, we’ve neglected the key component to the success of these events — patron interest. There will be more interactive engagement, and a fun and thrilling experience for those who attend in August,” he said.
