Cavalier defeat Los Perfectos to inch closer to JWPL semis
CAVALIER FC inched closer to a Jamaica Women’s Premier League semi-final spot after beating Los Perfectos FC 4-1 in the return game at Brooks Park in Manchester on Saturday.
It was Cavalier’s second win over Los Perfectos this season, taking them to 38 points. Los Perfectos remain on 30 points but slip to fourth place — two points behind Arnett Gardens who are expected to be awarded full points from their game against Proven Girls who showed up late for the contest.
Defending champions Frazsiers Whip, who had already booked their semi-final spot, won their 15th-straight game of the season, trouncing Federal United 11-0 at Prison Oval.
Davia Richards led Frazsiers Whip with a hat-trick, taking her goal tally of the season to 31.
At Brooks Park, Jynell Graham scored a double for Cavalier who led 3-1 at half-time. Graham opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Kadian Edwards made it 2-0 in the 18th.
Shanel Spence scored her 26th goal of the season in the 23rd minute to underline Cavalier’s dominant start.
Andrene Smith pulled a goal back for Los Perfectos — her 11th of the season — in the 38th minute.
Graham completed her double in the 62nd minute as Cavalier took all three points.
At Prison Oval, Frazsiers Whip, who have scored a whopping 96 goals in 15 matches, led 8-0 at half-time as Davia Richards scored in the 19th, 24th and 32nd minutes.
Shauntai Pryce and Destiny Powell scored braces while Sahai Panton, Nevillegail Able, Natoya Atkinson and Shauna Kay Chambers also got on the scoresheet.
Mile Gully FC extended UWI Women’s FC’s losing skid by beating them 2-1 at the UWI Mona Bowl, thanks to a first-half double from Tassanya Forbes who scored in the 30th and 41st minutes.
Alicia James scored a consolation goal for UWI Women in the 74th minute.
At Granville Community Centre, Real MoBay AFC came from an early goal down to beat last-placed Springers United 2-1 in their St James derby.
Chara Thompson gave Springers United the lead in the ninth minute before Nadisha Jones, who scored a double, equalised in the 12th minute. Jones scored the winner in the 17th minute.
