Pinnock, Hibbert join move to Turkiye
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Fresh on the heels of news that Olympic Games medallists Roje Stona and Rajindra Campbell have switched allegiances from Jamaica to Turkiye, the local track and field fraternity has been rocked by reports that horizontal jumpers Wayne Pinnock and Jaydon Hibbert have also taken flight to the European country.
Observer Online was told on Thursday that Pinnock, silver medalist in the long jump at the World Championships in 2023 in Budapest, at the Olympic Games in Paris last year and at the World Indoor Championships in China this year, as well as up-and-coming triple jumper Hibbert have also completed the paperworks for Turkish citizenship.
While Pinnock is ranked sixth in the world, Hibbert, who was a finalist in Budapest and Paris, has not competed all year as he reportedly recovers from an injury that effected him at the Olympics.
