Stalk Ashley, music producer deny viral sexual assault allegations
Mother of alleged victim issues apology
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dancehall artiste Stalk Ashley and music producer Jaxx have officially sought legal counsel after sexual assault allegations were made against them by the mother of up-and-coming artiste Bad Skylaa.
In a statement issued on Thursday, lawyers representing Stalk Ashley and Jaxx dismissed the claims made in a series of viral videos accusing their clients of sexual misconduct as “false, defamatory and without factual foundation”.
Noting that the videos have serious implications for their clients, the attorneys warned the public against reposting and re-sharing the same.
In the videos, Skylaa’s mother accuses Stalk Ashley and Jaxx of forcing her daughter to engage in sexual activities against her will. In one of the videos, Skylaa’s mother shared that the 19-year-old was made to believe the Dutty Casamigos singer would assist her with her career. She claims that instead of a “buss”, her daughter has been left mentally unstable by the interactions with the popular female deejay and her producer.
“Unu make she lef her boyfriend tell her how unu ago buss her…unu mad her,” the woman said in one of the now-viral videos.
Claiming that her daughter’s suffering would not go unpunished, the mother said vengeance would be left to God and that the entertainer “must go dung”.
But as the videos gained popularity on social media, Ashley and Jaxx used their legal counsel to issue a statement on their behalf. They highlighted that a formal report has been made to the police as the accusations are defamatory. They also outlined that their clients “will not yield to any pressure, direct or indirect, to respond with financial concessions to public accusations they know to be untrue”.
The statement went further to say that “any attempt to improperly leverage unverified allegations for material benefit will be met with a firm and lawful response”.
Sometime after the legal statement was released, another video of the mother started making the rounds. This time, however, the woman issued an apology to the artiste and producer, stating that she now understands that whatever interactions her daughter had with the accused were consensual.
“My sincere apologies. I am now getting the understanding that she was not forced, she did what she did on her own,” she said. She added that she now understands that her daughter may be suffering from mental health issues.
