SO2: A Night Under The Stars

Imagine the perfect blend of thrilling sport, exquisite cuisine, and luxurious libations. That’s precisely what awaited guests at Sagicor Investments’ “A Night Under The Stars,” held on Sunday, June 29, at the Kingston Polo Club. With the venue transformed into an elegant garden bistro courtesy of Krafted by Design, the stage was set for a night of exhilarating polo and impressive equestrian displays.

In the spotlight and exhibiting Olympic equestrian prowess were William Fox-Pitt of the United Kingdom, Brazil’s Carlos Parro, and Jamaica’s Samantha Albert along with next-gen riders from the Hyde Riding Academy.

Polo is synonymous with haute living and hosts Sagicor pulled out all the stops: Pours from Select Brands, featuring the iconic Veuve Clicquot and crafted cocktails using Worthy Park Estate rums, complemented by the tantalising and visually appealing fare provided by Chefs Mathieu Masson Duceppe and Alexa Von Strolley. Patrons were spoilt for choice.

Additionally, bringing a cultural touch, the Kingston Polo clubhouse housed “Portraits of Axé: The Powerful Soul of the Afro-Brazilian Blocos of Bahia,” a photography exhibition by renowned Brazilian photographer Fred Pontes, courtesy of event brand D.ONE.

Sagicor Group President and CEO Christopher Zacca, in his opening remarks, highlighted Sagicor’s unwavering commitment to empowering youth, a mission amplified by the involvement of charity partner JustWorld International. “At Sagicor, we are committed to creating meaningful moments, and this evening exemplifies such moments where elegance meets excitement, sport meets spirit, and community meets purpose,” Zacca affirmed. “We are also proud to support the Caymanas community and delighted that tonight’s event will highlight the talent and potential within it.”

Following an elegant showcase by Olympians and rising equestrian stars, the tension mounted for a fierce polo game under the lights. Team Jamaica and Team India battled it out in a nail-biting game, culminating in Team India’s victory. The celebratory atmosphere transitioned into party mode, with DJ Batuhan and percussionist Otto Santan Selis igniting the night with pulsating beats, ensuring a truly memorable experience.
