North-South highway users can now top up online
ST ANN, Jamaica — North South highway users will be able to top up online following the launch of a new Online Epass platform by the highway’s operators, Jamaica North-South Highway Company Limited (JNSHC).
The move follows engagement between the JNSHC and the Government of Jamaica, through the National Road Operating and Constructing Company Limited (NROCC).
The new system promises to deliver greater convenience, transparency and control for users, making travel across the toll road network more efficient.
“JNSHC’s expansion into the digital space forms part of a broader national push to modernise Jamaica’s toll road infrastructure. The Government’s long-term goal is to implement Open Road Tolling across all toll roads, so users will not have to stop at a toll booth to pay tolls. Open Road Tolling requires an online platform. Therefore, JNSHC’s roll out of their new EPASS platform is a major step forward,” said Robert Morgan, minister without portfolio with responsibility for works.
Users of the new mobile app and web portal will be able to: perform online top-ups to their Epass accounts, view detailed account activity, including travel history, top-up history and vehicle information and monitor current account balances.
The new platform is expected to be fully available to the public before the end of the current quarter.
The North-South route connects Kingston to Ocho Rios and forms part of the country’s Highway 2000 network. Highway 2000 also features an east-west route connecting Kingston to Clarendon and Portmore, operated separately by TransJam highways.
