Neighbour declines mediation in shared electricity quarrel
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two neighbours who are before the court for a disagreement stemming from electricity they share at a premises rejected an offer to resolve their dispute through mediation when their matter was called up in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
Kemile Jemmison is currently answering to a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm brought by his neighbour.
The court was told that the dispute stemmed from electricity, which the two appeared to have been “sharing”. Jemmison reportedly decided to disconnect the light, which led to an argument between the parties. During the confrontation, Jemmison allegedly punched the complainant in her lower abdominal area.
Presiding Judge Tracy-Ann Robinson asked both parties if they were open to mediation, but the complainant declined the offer.
The matter was then referred for case management on September 10. Jemmison’s bail was extended.
