Blake, Parchment compete at ISTAF Berlin
Ackeem Blake and Hansle Parchment will be two of four Jamaicans seeking victories during Sunday’s ISTAF Berlin- A world Athletics Continental Tour-Silver meeting to be held at the Olympiastadion.
Blake, who last competed at the London Diamond League meeting just over a week ago, will contest the men’s 100m while Parchment is set to run the 110m hurdles along with Lafranz Campbell.
The other Jamaican down to compete is women’s shot putter Danniel Thomas-Dodd who was third at last year’s staging.
Blake ran 9.88 seconds, his personal best a month ago at the Jamaican national championships, and appears to have shaken off an injury. He will take on South Africa’s Shaun Maswanganyi, Udodi Onwuzrike of Nigeria, and Owen Ansah of Germany, all of whom have gone under 10.00 seconds already this season.
Parchment has been consistent over his last two outings and goes into the race with the fastest season’s best time of 13.26 seconds though it’s not that much faster than Tatsuki Abe of Japan and Louis Francois Mendy of Senegal.
For her part, Thomas-Dodd will be up against a tough field that will include Germany’s Yemisi Ogunyele who was second last year, Fanny Roos of Sweden and Katharina Maisch of Germany.
