KINGSTON, Jamaica— Brothers Kori and Jason Senior believe they can make a positive change in the dancehall arena.

The ego-driven segregation that exists for years among dancehall entertainers, may soon be a thing of the past. Through their label Mad Dawg Entertainment, the brothers are hopeful that combining the talents of emerging acts and established acts, can foster better relations within the dancehall space.

Boasting a production catalog, which includes productions for the likes of Chronic Law, I Octane, Rytikal and Silk Boss among others, the label has still managed to provide a platform for emerging talent. Several uprising talents including Thug Famous, Soviyet and Jahvel have benefited greatly from the exposure the label has provided to them.

According to the label’s CEO, Jason Senior, he believes that it is very important to give emerging acts a platform to showcase their talent.

“I believe in developing new talent because that is how you keep the music vibrant. Every artiste has a different vibe, but some producers shun them [young artistes] because it takes more effort and money to break an artiste than to just voice the ones who have already made a name for themselves. However, I want to be an agent of change, which is why me give youths like Thug Famous a run because him have star quality suh him just need the eyes and ears fi lock into him ting,” Jason told Observer Online on Friday.

On the other hand, his brother is of the view that working with the established artiste will propel the label to new heights and raise the standard of the music industry.

“For me, it’s about the talent level, not necessarily who is hyped at the moment. I classify a person as being a big artiste based on his or her talent level not just popularity because several of these so-called big artistes nuh good. If you notice the artistes we record, they are all very talented inna real life because we have an internal quality standard that we nah drop,” said Kori.

Currently the label is promoting its latest single release entitled Crazy Life by Thug Famous. They are also in the studio adding the finishing touches to a new rhythm project, called Guns Out.
