Holness has created an environment that enables women – Grange
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Cabinet Minister and St Catherine Central Member of Parliament (MP), Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange says the Prime Minister Andrew Holness-led Administration has created an environment for women to excel.
She said the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) was empowering and enabling young women to achieve their dreams through the provision of academic scholarships and grants.
“When you look at the women in the Labour Party, the women who are ministers of government, a young girl in Jamaica can be whatever she wants to be, whether it’s a minister of finance and the public service like Fayval Williams, or the minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade like Kamina Johnson Smith,” Grange told labourites in Half-Way Tree square at a mass rally on Sunday night.
“Our prime minister has created an environment that enables women, and we want to thank him for that,” said Grange, who is in charge of the culture, entertainment, gender and sports portfolio.
She said it was among the reasons why Jamaicans are to “stick by” Holness when the next General Elections are called.
“A want everyone of you to put you hands in the air and pledge tonight that on election day…, you’re all gonna go out there and you gonna whap dem!” the minister urged.
She added: “What a say? Whap dem!”
The plethora of jubilant labourites erupted at the command from the veteran MP, waving their Jamaican flags and green flags.
The theme of the JLP’s election campaign is ‘Choose Jamaica’.
