PNP cannot beat JLP on performance; resorting to campaigning on lies – Vaz
Member of Parliament for Portland Western, Daryl Vaz, has declared that the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) cannot defeat the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) on its record of performance.
“They cannot beat us on performance. They cannot beat us when you compare our team to their team, so they have decided to campaign on personal attacks, lies, empty promises and rum talk, and to badmind every good policy that this Government has implemented,” Vaz told a JLP mass rally in Half-Way Tree on Sunday night.
JLP leader, Prime Minister Andrew Holness, is expected to call the elections later at the meeting.
Vaz, who is the Minister of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport, said when matched side by side, the JLP’s team of Cabinet ministers would defeat their PNP opponents nine to zero.
“Jamaica let me ask you a question. Who do you trust with your water? Matthew Samuda or Ian Hayles? One love to the Labour Party,” said Vaz as the sea of labourites erupted.
Continuing, he said: “Who do you trust with your roads and your works? (Robert) Nesta Morgan or Richard Azan? Two love to Labour Party.
“Who do you trust with your economy? Fayval Williams or Julian Robinson? Three love to Labour Party! Who do you trust to the crime reduction? Horace Chang or Peter ‘Badmind’ Bunting? Four love to Labour Party!'”
Leaving his portfolio, Vaz said he was the clear choice over both the PNP’s Mikael Phillips and Phillip Paulwell.
“Mi alone tek on two a dem and slew dem!” the Portland Western MP announced.
According to him, the PNP cannot be relied upon to give the country advice on good policies, because they wrecked the country in their “22 years in office”.
