Traffic changes in Montego Bay for JLP public meeting
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police are advising the public of the following traffic changes to facilitate the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) public meeting to be held at Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay in St James.
The changes will begin at 10:00 pm on Friday, August 22, and remain in effect until 5:00 am on Monday, August 25.
Friday, August 22 – 10:00 pm to Monday, August 25 – 5:00 am
- Sections of Sam Sharpe Square from St James Street onto Market Street.
- The intersection of Church Street and St James Street.
- The intersection of Lawrence Lane and St James Street.
Saturday, August 23 – 10:00 pm to Monday, August 25 – 5:00 am
- St James Street at Corner Lane, preventing vehicular traffic into Sam Sharpe Square.
Sunday, August 24 – 7:00 am to Monday, August 25 – 5:00 am
Closures will extend to several intersections, including:
- Intersection of Union Street at Long Lane.
- Intersection of Union Street at Orange Street.
- Intersection of Orange Street at Market Street.
- Intersection of Church Street at Long Lane.
- Intersection of Church Street at Orange Street.
- Intersection of Market Street at King Street.
- Intersection of Church Street at St Clavers Avenue.
- Intersection of St Clavers Avenue at Creek Street.
- Intersection of St James Street at Creek Street.
- Intersection of Harbour Street at South Street.
- Intersection of Union Street at St James Street.
- Intersection of Corner Lane at St James Street.
- Intersection of Orange Street at Union Street.
- Intersection of Orange Street at Corner Lane.
- Intersection of Market Lane at Orange Street.
- Intersection of Church Street at St Clavers Avenue.
Alternate Routes motorists are advised to use:
- Barnett Street to Howard Cooke Boulevard.
- Orange Street to Paradise Rowe to North Street, continuing onto Meagre Bay Road, then Harbour Street and Howard Cooke Boulevard.
Parking will be available at:
- Transportation Centre, Creek Street.
- Municipal Car Park, Harbour Street.
- Harbour City Car Park.
- Along Harbour Street.
- In the vicinity of City Centre.
Police are urging motorists to follow the directions of officers during the traffic changes.
