WATCH: Not just a pretty face
Nekeisha Burchell’s supporter says she will win by 3,000 votes
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Supporters of Nekeisha Burchell, the People’s National Party’s (PNP) candidate for St James Southern, want to make it clear that she is more than just a pretty face.
“Yeah, she pretty but she hard working, she work hard man,” Neil Owen told Observer Online during the PNP’s mass rally which is underway in Sam Sharpe, Montego Bay.
He lives in the constituency and thinks Burchell is being unfairly judged because of her looks.
“She carry water on her head, she plant yam, all them thing there,” he said of her life in Maroon Town.
Burchell is seeking to return the seat to the PNP.
In 2020, the Jamaica Labour Party’s Homer Davis defeated the PNP’s Walton Small to take the seat for the JLP, amassing 7,223 to Small’s 5,275 votes.
Owen predicts a high margin of victory for Burchell.
“She a win by 3,000 vote,” he stated, declaring that by 1:00 pm on Wednesday they will be able to call the seat.
