WATCH: PNP’s Jackson says upcoming election is key to restoring country’s reputation
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for St Catherine Southern, Fitz Jackson, says this election is critical to restoring the country’s reputation.
Maintaining that too many members of the diaspora have expressed that they are embarrassed to say they are Jamaican, he said, “That is what is at stake, to restore the reputation of Jamaica and Jamaicans living here and those living outside the country.”
Jackson was speaking at a rally in Portmore at his Southborough constituency office on Saturday.
“This election is perhaps one of the most crucial elections in a very long time, definitely since I have been Member of Parliament. The choices we have are very clear, whether we want Jamaica to be led by one of our own who is of integrity that anywhere we travel…we are not afraid to say our prime minister is Mark Jefferson Golding,” said Jackson.
He also responded to Holness’ comments during the Jamaica Debates Commission’s leaders’ debate, where he said that it was not just where you were born that makes you Jamaican.
“Mi nuh know bout unuh but mi a Jamaican, mi a Jamaican because mi have a birth paper, it kinda favour the one weh Markie G take out the other night,” he said.
