KINGSTON, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding has won the St Andrew Southern seat in the 2025 General Election, while the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Matthew Samuda retained his seat, based on preliminary results.
Golding tallied 6,058 votes while the JLP’s Carlton Allen secured 374.
With the win, Golding held onto the St Andrew Southern seat for the PNP, which he has held since he won the seat in a 2017 by-election.
Meanwhile, in St Ann North Eastern, the JLP’s Matthew Samuda secured 9,528 votes to defeat the PNP’s Ryan Simpson who secured 6,799 votes.
Samuda won the seat in a by-election in 2024. He claimed 4,838 votes, beating independent candidate David Fritz Anderson who got 222 votes and Chase Neil of the United Independents’ Congress, who received 30 votes.
Prior to that, JLP’s Marsha Smith had won that seat in the 2020 General Election, defeating PNP’s Keith Brown.
