7 Krave readies Amazon-inspired marketplace
Quick service delivery company Innovative Menu Solutions, more popularly known as 7Krave, is again looking to solve another consumer-related issue as it gets ready to roll out a new Amazon-type marketplace to the public in the coming days.
Set for an official launch on September 27, the platform aims to be Jamaica’s first all-in-one digital marketplace, targeting a wide range of sellers — from everyday individuals and social media entrepreneurs to established brands.
“7Krave Marketplace is pretty much Jamaica’s version of Amazon,” said Rory White, co-founder and CEO of 7Krave, in an interview with the
Jamaica Observer late last week.
“My team and I developed this platform because we believe too much money is leaving the country through international marketplaces while our local sellers often go unnoticed. A lot of really good sellers are in the other parishes, but with focus often largely placed on those in one or two parishes, it can sometimes be very hard to discover them, and so we want to fix that with this solution as we also help to get things moving and to boost our local gross domestic product (GDP),” he continued.
The new marketplace, which has already attracted over $50 million in capital investment, will offer sellers their own custom, hassle-free storefronts, complete with integrated logistics and payment solutions. The platform is designed to ensure nationwide visibility powered by secure transactions managed by a trusted brand.
“We’re enhancing discoverability so that both small and large businesses can attract more buyers across the island — allowing them to scale their operations in ways that will work for them,” White said.
Leveraging 7Krave’s established delivery network — currently used for food and grocery services — the company plans to provide islandwide fulfilment, ensuring that products reach consumers quickly and efficiently.
“We’ll handle all the logistics, moving items from anywhere in the island within a quick and timely manner. With Amazon sellers have to figure it out, though they also have the channels to assist, but with 7Krave Marketplace we’ll take care of everything for them,” the CEO noted.
While the platform is built to support a broad range of products, initial focus will be on food, clothing, beauty products, electronics, household supplies, and other general merchandise.
“Post-launch, we expect to expand into even more categories. As long as it’s legal, we’ll aim to move any type of product from point A to B,” White emphasised.
Founded in 2015 by White and four friends, 7Krave started with a mission to connect people to the local food community. Now operating a robust network of over 100 team members, including drivers, riders, and support staff, the company has grown into one of the island’s most trusted delivery services, making hundreds of drop-offs each week.
Even before its official launch, the marketplace has been met with strong interest from the business community. According to White, more than 700 sellers have currently signed up, with some 200 fully onboarded.
“The response has been amazing even with minimal promotion. This platform solves the problem of accessibility and as such, consumers from anywhere in the country will be able to place orders and receive them within a reasonable timeframe. Our goal is for 7Krave Marketplace to become a household name and our very own Jamaican Amazon.”
White further revealing that the company is also taking steps to debut a new corporate service said that the upcoming addition will similarly aim to solve lunchtime challenges for businesses.
“With 7Krave Corporate, we’ll work with companies to provide a better lunch solution as we help them to connect their staff to the food ecosystem in a more efficient way,” he said.
