Jamaica lead Canada 1-0 at half time in Under-17 WC qualifier

Jamaica lead Canada 1-0 at half time in Under-17 WC qualifier

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s Boys Under 17 team are 45 minutes away from qualifying for the FIFA Under 17 World Cup to be held in Qatar in November as they led Canada 1-0 at half time of their Concacaf Group G Under 17 boys World Cup (WC) qualifying in Costa Rica on Wednesday.

Captain Jahmarie Nolan gave Jamaica the lead in the 37th minute when he volleyed home a cross from the right wing past Canada’s goalkeeper Gabriel Pandolfo.

The goal came against the run of play as Canada, who must win the game to qualify for back to back Under 17 World Cup, controlled the game at the start and were denied a goal when Jamaica’s goalkeeper O’Mario White made a goalline save.

Only the winners of the eight groups will advance to the WC.
