Tokyo 2025: Grange congratulates Seville, Thompson and Clayton
Sport minister commends Fraser-Pryce and Jackson
Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange says Oblique Seville hit his stride magnificently for himself and Jamaica when he won the 100m sprint at the World Championships in Tokyo on Sunday.
“Oblique certainly delivered on his promise, making us all proud of him,” Minister Grange said in a news release.
“And congratulations to Kishane Thompson who in taking the silver made it a Jamaica one-two bringing more joy for us.”
Grange also had special congratulations for Tina Clayton who won the silver medal in the women’s 100m becoming the youngest to win a medal in that particular race category at the World Championships.
“The entire Jamaica is behind Team Jamaica whose performance so far has put us in second place on the medal table at the Championships,” Grange said.
The minister also had special praise for the iconic Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and words of commendation for Shericka Jackson, who finished sixth and fourth respectively in the women’s 100m final in Tokyo.
