Tokyo 2025: Mason and Bennett through to 110m hurdles final
TOKYO, Japan — Tyler Mason and Orlando Bennett look set to win their first medals at a senior global championships after impressive performances in Tuesday’s semi-final of the 110m hurdles on day four of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Both men, who have won silver medals at the World Under-20 level, won their semi-finals to advance. However, Demario Prince fell just short.
Mason, a silver medallist at the World Under 20 Championships in 2014, equalled his personal best 13.12 seconds (-0.1m/s) to win his semi-final, the same time he ran at the Jamaican national championships in July 2023, beating Japan’s Rachid Muratake— 13.17 seconds.
Bennett, who was second to compatriot Damion Thomas at the World Under 20 in Finland in 2018, also won his semi-final in 13.27 seconds (-0.8m/s) ahead of Spain’s Enrique Llopis— 13.29 seconds.
Three-time defending champion Grant Halloway of the United States failed to advance past the semifinals, finishing sixth in his heat in 13.52 seconds.
