Tokyo 2025: Jordan Scott advances to triple jump final
Jordan Scott made light work of qualifying for the final of the men’s triple jump with a 17.19m (0.4m/s) effort in the first round on day five of the Tokyo World Athletics Championships on Tuesday.
The world number three ranked Scott, who has a personal best 17.52m, made the automatic qualifying mark of 17.10m on his second effort after just missing it with a 17.00m (0.1m/s) jump on his first round attempt.
He topped his group and was second best in qualifying behind Yasser Mohammed Triki of Algeria who jumped 17.26m (0.7m/s) on his only attempt.
The Jamaican national champion has had a breakthough season, winning four times on the Diamond League circuit as well as making it to the final of the World Indoor Championship in March.
