Tokyo 2025: Jackson clocks season’s best to lead qualifiers for 200m final
TOKYO, Japan — Two time defending champion Shericka Jackson led all qualifiers for the final of the women’s 200m after she ran a season’s best 21.99 seconds (-0.1m/s) to win her semi-final on day six of the World Athletics Championships on Thursday in Tokyo, Japan.
Jackson, who won in Eugene, Oregon in 2022 and defended her title a year later in Budapest, Hungary, got off to a slow start but caught the field by the end of the curve and ran away to win easily.
Great Britain’s Amy Hunt ran a personal best 22.08 seconds for second and a place in the final.
Jamaica’s national champion Ashanti Moore was third in her semi-final, running 22.51 seconds (0.1m/s) and failed to qualify for the final, finishing 10th overall.
