Jamaican deported from US arrested upon re-entry

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A 24-year-old deportee, who fled the country while on bail for murder, was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport upon re-entering the island on Thursday.

He is Rogea Reid of Old Harbour Road in St Catherine.

Reid is charged with murder, absconding bail and breaching bail conditions.

Reid was among 61 deportees on a chartered flight arriving from Alexandria, Louisiana in the United States of America around 11:55 am.

Upon arrival, Reid was handed over to the law enforcement personnel for further processing. During the process, he was taken into custody.

He was the only deportee to be detained.
