JUTC launches new route between Kingston and MoBay
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will, as of October 1, introduce a new Rural Express service, offering passengers a more comfortable and convenient way to travel between Kingston and Montego Bay.
The flagship route, 620Ex, will run from Half-Way Tree to Montego Bay and back, giving commuters the option of premium long-distance travel at an introductory rate of $2,000 per trip.
According to JUTC, the new service forms part of its broader Rural Express Routes initiative, which aims to connect Kingston with major towns across the island using modern, premium-equipped buses.
In a post shared to social media, the transit company said passengers can expect:
* Affordable travel at the $2,000 launch fare;
*Comfortable, stylish buses built for long-distance convenience, and
* Streamlined connections across the island.
Commuters may pay with a SmartFare card or cash, and view schedules online before traveling.
The launch of the Rural Express is expected to ease travel between major cities, while raising the standard of public transport for long-haul commuters.
