Steele wins Male Vocalist of the Year at Canada’s Reggae North Music Awards
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Jamaican-born reggae artiste Steele walked away with the Male Vocalist of the Year title at last night’s staging of the 2nd annual Reggae North Music Awards in Canada.
The awards, the brainchild of Jamaican-born recording artiste and producer Tony Anthony, took place at the Rose Theatre in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
Originally from Lucea in Hanover, Steele (real name Mark Steele) migrated to Canada more than 20 years ago, where he has found success on the reggae music scene.
Last year, his hit song Pick Up the Pieces which tackles relationship issues, impacted the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart.

In an interview with Observer Online on Monday, Steele, who was also nominated in the Reggae Single of the Year category for Pick Up the Pieces, shared his excitement about winning the Male Vocalist of the Year award.
“I am very proud of this accomplishment. Consistency is everything in staying relevant. It signifies to me that I’m truly getting the love and respect from not just my fans, but my peers in the Canadian reggae market and beyond,” said Steele.
To date, Steele has released six full length studio albums: Uncorrupted, The Love of Jah, The Man, The Music, Reality, Your Attention Please, and Just Breathe, which was released four years ago.
He has been nominated for a JUNO Award for Reggae Recording of the Year on three occasions.
