EITS Café in the Blue Mountains launched its new live acoustic series, ‘Music in the Mountains’, on Saturday, October 4. The inaugural event was especially meaningful as it commemorated the birthday of late founder of 17 Mile Post, Michael Fox — a man whose love for food, music, and community continues to inspire the space.
Hosted by his daughter, EITS Café principal Robyn Fox, the evening unfolded as a beautiful celebration of legacy, friendship, and creativity.
“My father and noted Jamaican record producer Philip “Fatis” Burrell were my introduction to the musical world. I’ve loved it ever since. Music is deep in my heart and soul,” she shared.
The line-up of live performances was led by Luciano and Mikey General, both delivering powerful sets that moved the intimate audience. They were joined by Alphonso Craig, Kevin Campbell, and Errol Graham on percussion — all long-time friends from the Xterminator family. Between sets, son of the late Philip “Fatis” Burrell, Kareem “Remus” Burrell of Xterminator Sound / XTM Nation, and DJ Richie Supreme kept the energy high with classic Xterminator tracks and new selections.
The evening also drew notable members of Jamaica’s music and food community, including Lila Iké, Joe Bogdanovich, Gabre Selassie, Abishai (Bebble Rock), Carleene Samuels, and Anna-Kay “Miss T” Tomlinson.
Guests enjoyed an exquisite selection of sweet and savoury tapas, with Catherine’s Peak Spring Water and Select Brands Cavicchioli Prosecco and Wines keeping guests refreshed. The night was filled with good food, good music, and good vibes.
