After making his movie début as young Peter Tosh in Bob Marley: One Love, the hit Paramount Pictures biopic, Narado Williams gets to showcase his music chops at Tosh Fest on October 19 in Bluefields,Westmoreland.

The event’s second staging will be held at the Peter Tosh Memorial Garden. It salutes the legacy of Tosh, who was killed at his St Andrew home in September 1987 at age 42.

Tosh, who was born in Westmoreland, would have celebrated his 81st birthday on October 19.

Williams’ movie role, albeit small, earned him significant exposure, but he has spent the last year focusing on recording singles like Step by Step, his first song.

The self-produced track was released in August.

“The last 18 months have brought me more clarity in music, in reality. From the wars worldwide to the injustice and inequality of the poor people, I’ve seen many things, but not the righteous forsaken or his seeds begging bread,” he reasoned. “The Marley movie did great on screens. Now, the mission is to make a name for I self.”

Williams played guitar and percussion on Step by Step, which he said was inspired during a jam session last year in Trench Town, where Tosh and Marley formed The Wailers.

He describes the song as “revolutionary spirited music” aimed at empowering black people.

The lanky Williams is from Tavares Gardens, commonly known as Payne Land, which is a proverbial stone’s throw from Trench Town.

Tosh Fest 2025 features Andrew Tosh, Beenie Man and Mutabaruka.
