Twelve-year-old Anorrah Brown was recently crowned the first-ever Mini Miss Kingston and St Andrew Heritage Queen.

The competition, which aims to promote cultural awareness and self-expression among Jamaica’s youth, saw Anorrah shine with poise, talent, and intelligence. Her win represents not only a personal triumph but also a milestone for the event, which provides a platform to celebrate confidence, heritage, and self-worth, and continues to expand its reach across the island.

“It’s an incredible honour and a dream come true. I am filled with so much excitement and gratitude to be given such an opportunity to represent my parish Kingston and St Andrew and showcase my talent and creativity,” said an elated Anorrah.

The aspiring lawyer has a willingness to advocate for justice and as such has decided on practicing family law.

Concerned with how crime affects our society, Anorrah already has a vision for her role in addressing the issue and states that, if given the opportunity to change violence in society and how it affects us, she would start by teaching conflict resolution, empathy, and emotional intelligence in schools. She additionally sees herself organising community programmes, support groups, and mentorship initiatives.

“But most importantly, I would address the root causes, which I believe is poverty, and I would work alongside the relevant agencies to reduce poverty and its related spinoffs which is corruption, bullying, inequality and social injustice,” he said.

Behind every young achiever stands a pillar of support — for Anorrah, that pillar is her mother. Beaming with pride, she expressed deep gratitude and joy at her daughter’s achievement.

“I feel incredibly proud and overjoyed having my daughter win the Mini Miss Kingston and St Andrew Heritage Queen Competition. It’s a big deal! It’s definitely a dream come true, and I’m grateful for the opportunity given to her to showcase her talent, beauty, intelligence, and heritage on such a prestigious platform,” she said.

The Mini Miss Kingston and St Andrew Heritage Queen Competition is the latest addition to a legacy of cultural pageants founded by Damion Duckett, entrepreneur and CEO of DDPromotions (Double D Promotions). The initiative began in St Ann more than 20 years ago with the Mini Miss St Ann Heritage Queen Competition, created to celebrate Jamaica’s rich heritage while empowering young girls to embrace their individuality.

Now, with Anorrah’s crowning moment, the competition continues its mission to inspire confidence and self-respect in the next generation — proving that beauty and purpose can coexist.

Organisers said her victory serves as a reminder that when young people are supported and encouraged, they can rise above challenges and become symbols of hope and pride for their communities.
