Capleton’s ‘Heights of Fire’ to ignite flames with high powered collaboration
Veteran dancehall artiste Capleton is gearing up to release his eagerly anticipated 21st full-length studio album.
In an interview with Observer Online on Thursday, the artiste, dubbed King Shango and King of Fire, said he has surprises in store for the fans as the album which is titled Heights of Fire will deliver the goods that fans have come to expect over the years.
“Well, I would like to mention that there is a very big collaboration on the album with Damian and Stephen Marley along with myself and Dennis Brown. The album is called Heights of Fire and it’s coming out very soon. It is the first album that I am releasing in many years, and this one is for the fans,” Capleton disclosed.
The artiste, born Clifton Bailey, is still in high spirits following last week’s performance at the Sharkies Seafood Festival in St Ann.
“Sharkies Seafood Festival was special because it was on Heroes Day and to see the great turnout and to engage with the fans knowing that they went home getting their money’s worth and leaving with positive messages, was a pleasure,” said Capleton.
Last weekend, he was one of the performers at a stage show in Costa Rica. It was an experience that he thoroughly enjoyed.
“Costa Rica was just awesome. It has been one of my favourite places ever since I developed a strong fan base in the Spanish world. Costa Ricans have always been very receptive to me and the vibe is always great,” said Capleton.
He added, “I have performed in Costa Rica several times and I love the experience and each time it’s the same love from the people, as if it was my first time.”
Capleton’s next assignment is the Treasure Beach Food, Rum & Reggae Fest in St Elizabeth, which takes place from November 7-9. He is the headliner for concert night two on November 8.
“Patrons can expect a fiery performance because I have not performed in St Elizabeth for a while and I remember them being an energetic audience who like to enjoy themselves. It’s going to be a party atmosphere and St Elizabeth people like to have a good time and they also love the culture,” said Capleton.
