Carib Cement resumes dispatch operations following Hurricane Melissa
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Caribbean Cement Company Limited (Carib Cement) has resumed cement dispatch operations at its Rockfort plant after conducting comprehensive safety checks and restoration work in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, the company announced Friday.
It said the immediate focus after the storm was ensuring the wellbeing of its employees and contractors, as well as carrying out detailed inspections to confirm that all areas of the facility were safe and structurally sound before restarting operations.
With robust inventory levels, including 10,000 tonnes of Carib Plus and 6,000 tonnes of high-early-strength cement, and both packing warehouses fully stocked, Carib Cement says it is well positioned to meet market demand without any supply chain disruption. The company also holds more than 33,000 tonnes of clinker, enough to produce approximately 44,000 tonnes of cement.
Managing Director Jorge Martinez credited the company’s quick recovery to strong preparedness and teamwork

By ensuring all silos and warehouses were secure and fully stocked, we are well positioned to meet Jamaica’s construction needs without interruption,” he said.
Carib Cement also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national recovery efforts, pledging continued assistance to employees, contractors, and affected communities. The company said it remains focused on maintaining safety, operational reliability, and contributing to Jamaica’s rebuilding and development following the hurricane.
