Deh Yah Still!
Celebrities have started to donate their time, visibility, and money to relief efforts for parishes devastated by Hurricane Melissa, particularly stars with ties to Jamaica.
Rock-blooded British actress Jodie Turner-Smith is among the first. She launched a T-shirt campaign with the leading global health and humanitarian organisation Project HOPE to raise funds for recovery efforts this past weekend. The Deh Yah Still T-Shirt is available in adult and children sizes on https://everpress.com/.
Turner-Smith was born in the UK to Jamaican immigrants who made sure that, even in a small English city, she stayed connected to her culture.
From Jodie Turner-Smith:
“I’ve designed a shirt to raise funds for Hurricane Melissa relief…
“Inspired by a photo of my daughter and me in Jamaica last winter, my intention is to reflect hope, community, resilience, and reverence for the island that holds my roots. Written in the sand is the idiom “deh yah still”… a reminder — the people of Jamaica are still here. What happens to some of us, happens to all of us. We must treat it as such. If you can manage, please support by buying a cool T-shirt, and please share with your friends and loved ones too!”
