Aubyn Foundation and partners give back to Westmoreland
As parishes in western Jamaica continue to grapple with the effects of Hurricane Melissa, the Aubyn Foundation, along with Ramsay’s Help Desk, former Miss Universe Jamaica Rachel Silveria, Changan Jamaica, and other friends joined forces to spread relief to Westmoreland.
On Saturday, November 1, the team visited Bethel Town to provide essentials for some of the residents who were heavily affected by the Category Five hurricane.
“We brought essentials such as food, clothing and supplies to help families begin rebuilding their homes and their lives. Around 120 community members received support, providing some relief during this challenging time,” Aubyn Henry, chairman of Aubyn Foundation, said.
Adding that it was important to assess the damage first-hand and provide reprieve, Henry emphasised the value of community in such a time as this.
“When people in our country are hurting, it is our responsibility to stand with them. It is about showing up, listening and helping to restore hope and dignity,” he reasoned.
Henry said the foundation will continue to support communities and those in need for sustainable development.
The chairman is extending encouragement to all nationals, as efforts are combined to rebuild the country.
“To all Jamaicans, we feel with you and we stand with you. Your resilience and courage inspire us every day. Together, we will rebuild our communities, restore hope and come out stronger than ever,” Henry said.
