KEMTEK Development and Construction donates $70m in relief supplies
More than 400 care packages distributed weekly across affected parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — In response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, KEMTEK Development and Construction has launched a major relief initiative valued at $70 million to support communities hardest hit, particularly in Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, St. James, and Trelawny.
The relief programme includes $15 million in food and toiletry supplies, along with $55 million in building materials and storage containers to help families stabilise their living conditions and begin rebuilding. Starting immediately, approximately 430 care packages will be distributed weekly across the targeted parishes, continuing through Christmas.
Distribution will be strategically coordinated in partnership with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), ensuring supplies are delivered safely, efficiently, and directly to those most affected.
Managing Director, Sylvester Tulloch, says the initiative reflects the company’s responsibility to stand with the nation in a time of great need.
“Our fellow Jamaicans are hurting. From lost homes and damaged infrastructure to families struggling to access basic necessities, the impact is real and deeply felt. As a company rooted in nation-building, we believe it is our duty to step forward,” Tulloch said. “This contribution is not just material support, but a symbol of hope. We want families to know they are not alone, and we will continue to stand with them on the road to recovery and rebuild.”
The building materials being supplied by KEMTEK will assist with repairs to homes and roofs, replacement of damaged structural components, and safe storage of personal and household items that can be salvaged. Tulloch added that resilience is the cornerstone of the country’s recovery efforts.
“This is a very difficult time for Jamaica, but we are a resilient people. With partnership, compassion, and unity, we will rebuild stronger,” Tulloch said.
KEMTEK is also commending private-sector partners for the support already shown, and is encouraging more companies to contribute, whether through donations, manpower, or logistics to help communities get back on their feet.
