Light With Love

Connecticut-based lifestyle brand NaturalAnnie Essentials has restocked its Jamaican Yardie Candle Collection and pledged to donate a portion of all sales toward supporting families in Jamaica impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

Owner Jamaican-born Annya “Annie” White-Brown, who was born and raised in Bethel Town, St Ann, but now resides in Connecticut, has been making soy candles since 2016, a year after launching a line of homemade skincare products. The Jamaican Yardie Collection was initially launched in 2023 with 14 candles, each representing a parish in Jamaica. The line quickly found favour with members of the Jamaican Diaspora and lovers of Jamaica, tugging at heartstrings and conjuring up memories from home. The hand-poured, scented soy candles are available in beautiful reusable amber glass containers online and at the NaturalAnnie Essentials Candle Bar in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

From White-Brown…

“NaturalAnnie Essentials, a Jamaican-owned and operated candle company based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is stepping up to support hurricane relief efforts in Jamaica. In partnership with the Jamaican American Connections of Connecticut. our candle bar now serves as a donation drop-off site to collect essential items for those affected. We’ve also relaunched our Jamaican Candle Collection, donating a portion of all sales to fund additional barrels for shipment to Jamaica. On December 7 at 4:00 pm, we’ll host a special reggae-themed candle-making experience at the Candle Bar, where a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will also go toward relief efforts, because even as a small business, we’re committed to making a big impact for our community back home.”
