Car show returns after 7-year leave
The Jamaica Classic Car Club (JCCC) will present its Classic Car Show this Sunday, November 16, at the Jamaica Horticultural Society, Hope Pastures, St Andrew.
It aims to help with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
“Initially, we were having the show to raise funds for the club, but now we will do it to raise funds to contribute towards hurricane relief,” Naresh Potopsingh, president, JCCC, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.
The JCCC last held a car show in 2018.
How the fund-raising efforts will reach their intended target is a decision to be made by the club executive after the event, but assurances are that it proceeds will go the area of greatest need.
“This is a difficult time, and we are trying to do our part to help,” he added.
The focus of the show will be the multitude of classics, old and modern, on display from its membership for the enjoyment of patrons.
Potopsingh said the club is trying to mobilise club members as much as possible to bring out as many vehicles as they can.
“Fans will see a mix of all kinds of cars,” he said.
In addition to potentially walking down an automotive memory lane with family, or expanding one’s knowledge of the vehicles that have shaped Jamaica’s history, there will be gate prizes, and an exhibition of the latest fashion creations from Phusion Models International, with music by DJ Audley.
