Voters’ list publication delayed to December 20 due to Hurricane Melissa
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) has pushed back the release of the upcoming voters’ list from November 30, 2025 to December 20, 2025, following the impact to the island caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The agency announced the postponement in a release, stating that the storm’s impact has hindered operations across several parishes.
Director of Elections Glasspole Brown said the decision was unavoidable given the scale of damage to communities, infrastructure and EOJ facilities.
“We are sensitive to the needs of persons at this time and we are cognisant of the time it will take to get back to some semblance of normality. Taking all these factors into consideration, we took a decision to delay the publication of the list by three weeks,” he said.
The deferred publication will also push back the production of voter ID cards for individuals added to the updated list. Electors are expected to begin collecting their ID cards in January 2026.
