Mojito earns Mouttet Mile berth with dominant Jamaica Cup performance

Mojito earns Mouttet Mile berth with dominant Jamaica Cup performance

Mojito’s impressive win in the Jamaica Cup has sent shock waves through the racing community, with many hailing him as a top contender for the prestigious Mouttet Mile.

The five-year-old grey horse, trained by Hall-of-Famer Richard Azan and ridden by Raddesh Roman, demonstrated remarkable endurance and speed, outlasting his rivals in the 9 ½ furlongs Graded Stakes contest.

Mojito’s victory was nothing short of spectacular, with the grey horse exploding off the turn to take the lead and powering home to secure the win by a length and a half. His winning time of 2:02.0 (25.1 x 49.2 x 1:14.2 x 1:41.2) was a testament to his exceptional speed and stamina.

Mojito’s impressive performance has earned him a spot in next month’s Mouttet Mile, thanks to the ‘Win and You’re In’ format.

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide analyses the outcome of the race.

FIRST – MOJITO : Mojito’s Jamaica Cup win was a masterclass in patience and power. He waited for his moment then unleashed a devastating surge to take the biggest win of his career. This performance screams Mouttet Mile contender, and he’s peaking at the perfect time. With his improvement curve pointing upwards, expect Mojito to be a major player on December 6.

SECOND – GIRVANO (USA): Did extremely well to snag second. He raced well off the pace, and when his rider asked him to go, he responded with his trademark late surge. Girvano’s steady improvement shows he’ll keep making his presence felt in upcoming races.

THIRD – RUN JULIE RUN: Ran exactly as expected. She played the waiting game, moved at the right time, and battled hard in deep stretch — just outfinished by the top two. Her grit and determination keep her on a solid track; she should continue doing well.

FOURTH – FUNCAANDUN (USA): Big disappointment — failed to live up to the hype as last year’s Mouttet Mile winner. Positioned well, but just didn’t fire in deep stretch, losing out on a Mouttet Mile spot. He’ll definitely be back.

FIFTH – TIZ TOK (USA): Didn’t deliver when it counted. Expected a lot more, especially with a Mouttet Mile berth on the line — just didn’t show up.

SIXTH – SHEER DELIGHT (USA): At least he finished in the money.

SEVENTH – CAPTAIN SPARROW: Never really in it — didn’t make an impact.

EIGHTH – CROWN CHASER: No surprises here — wasn’t expected to challenge.

NINTH – UNSPUN (USA): Underwhelming performance. Expected more, but just didn’t show up.

TENTH – MAMMA MIA: Ran exactly to form — no complaints.

ELEVENTH – PROPELLANT (USA): Didn’t finish the race.
