Speid appointed Reggae Boyz interim coach, Coley in talks for assistant role
Rudolph Speid has been named as interim head coach of the Reggae Boyz, replacing Steve McClaren who resigned on Tuesday.
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) made the announcement on Friday afternoon. It is understood that Speid was one of two candidates interviewed for the post on Friday in an emergency meeting at the JFF.
Speid’s appointment becomes effective December 15, 2025 until March 31, 2026.
The JFF said also that it is in discussions with the agent of Miguel Coley for him to serve as assistant coach. Coley, a former Reggae Boyz assistant coach who is currently based in Iraq, is understood to have been the second candidate interviewed for the head coaching job.

Speid served as technical advisor for the national senior men’s team for the last four months under Englishman McClaren who resigned on Tuesday following the team’s goalless draw with Curacao which meant failure to automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
Speid has led Cavalier FC to three Jamaica Premier League titles in the last four years as well as winning the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup.
Speid will take charge of the team’s final World Cup Qualifying push at the Inter-Confederation Playoffs in March.
They will play Oceania’s New Caledonia in the semi-finals and if victorious, advance to the final where they will meet Africa’s DR Congo for a spot in next year’s tournament.
