Team Notnice turns compassion into action
Jah Vinci dedicates new single to hurricane victims, rallies support for recovery
Proving that dancehall’s influence extends far beyond the stage, Team Notnice has been working tirelessly to assist those affected by Hurricane Melissa. To date, the group, which comprises Notnice, Nordia Mothersille and Jah Vinci, has delivered aid to more than 100 families across hurricane-ravaged sections of the west.
But even as they provide physical assistance, the team has also sought to comfort hearts through music with a new single from Jah Vinci.
The track, Out Of Many One People, not only highlights the immense struggle many Jamaicans face following the destruction of the Category 5 hurricane but also channels the resilient spirit that has unified the nation over the past month.
Produced by Notnice Records and distributed by ONErpm, the single pays homage to Jamaicans who, according to Jah Vinci, “stood strong through the storm”. The singer, who has made numerous visits to several affected communities, said he felt obligated to honour the fact that, though challenged, Jamaicans are unbreakable people.
“The hurricane may have shaken us, but it could never break our spirit,” he said. “We saw that when we visited some of our brothers and sisters in the west. They were standing among rubble in places that used to be their homes, and they still spoke with strength and gratitude about recovery and moving forward.”
That message he revealed is at the core of both the song and Team Notnice’s relief work.
“For Team Notnice, lending support was never just charity; it was a declaration of unity. Every bit counts as Jamaicans continue to rebuild,” said Notnice. “As Jamaica pushes through a long road to recovery, the synergy between music and community has never been more evident, and Team Notnice will be leading with both heart and artistry because unity still holds the nation together.”
Jah Vinici agreed.
“When I saw the level of destruction Hurricane Melissa left across Jamaica, I knew I couldn’t just sit and watch,” he said.
Fresh off a performance of his latest track at last Sunday’s I Love Jamaica Telethon, the entertainer shared that if his voice can help to raise even a little bit more support to rebuild, then that’s a duty he’s proud to fulfil.
Beyond the philanthropy and the tribute, Jah Vinci is also gearing up for a fresh wave of releases this Christmas. With a new track set to drop in December, Jah Vinci revealed that the song will form part of a larger Notnice Records project slated for the Yuletide season.
