Truck driver charged with murder of St Andrew businessman
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A 35-year-old truck driver has been charged with the murder of St Andrew businessman, Khalil Martin.
Roddayne Allison, of a Spring Crescent address in Portmore, was charged by Detective Sergeant Melonie Williams while in custody for the Tuesday, November 4 murder of Martin. He was also slapped with charges of unauthorised possession of firearm, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a schedule offence.
Martin, a senior information technology consultant at Island Products Manufacturing Company Limited, of an Olivier Court address in St Andrew, was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the face along Marl Road in Portmore, St Catherine.
Martin, who operated several businesses including haulage, farming and wrecking, had employed Allison as a truck driver.
Communication evidence allegedly unearthed by the police indicate that Martin had left his home to meet Allison at Salt Pond Road, Dunbenholden, on Tuesday, November 4.
Martin failed to return home, after which a missing person investigation led to the discovery of his body the following day.
Allison was held on Sunday, November 30, during a covert operation conducted in the Clarendon police division.
Allison gave a caution statement to the police in the presence of his attorney. A question and answer session was conducted with the accused after which he was charged.
