JCF announces traffic changes for Kingston fireworks festival
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is advising the public of traffic changes for the hosting of the annual fireworks festival by the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) along Ocean Boulevard, Kingston, on Wednesday, December 31.
In a release on Monday, the police said the Ocean Boulevard/Nethersole Place and Church Street/Ocean Boulevard intersections will be closed at 8:00 am on Wednesday, December 31.
At 4:00 pm that same day, the Port Royal Street, Church Street, King Street, Peter’s Lane, Orange Street, Princess Street, West Street, and Pechon Street intersections will also be closed.
The JCF added that two-way traffic will be permitted as follows to facilitate entrance and exit to and from parking areas only:
— The intersection of Church Street and Port Royal Street to the JCC multi-storey car park;
— The intersection of Orange Street and Port Royal Street to the Orange Street multi-storey car park;
— The intersection of Princess Street and Port Royal Street to the Digicel car park;
— The intersection of West Street and Port Royal Street to the West Street car park; and
— Vehicles will be allowed to turn from both King Street and Church Street to access the Temple Lane multi-storey car park.
Motorists are being asked to comply with the instructions of the police during this period.
