Jolyan Silvera murder trial set to begin Monday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jolyan Silvera heard confirmation in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston that his murder trial is set to begin on Monday.
Silvera will face trial in relation to the murder of his wife, Melissa who was found dead in the couple’s home in Stony Hill, St Andrew, on November 10, 2023.
Initially, it was reported that the 42-year-old woman died in her sleep from natural causes, but after an autopsy it was revealed that she died from gunshot wounds.

Police commenced a murder investigation after three bullet fragments were found inside her body.
The 52-year-old Silvera was arrested and charged in January 2024 with murder and has been in custody since.
King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and attorney-at-law Patrice Riley are representing Silvera.
