Mohanlal given edge in Rimsky Trophy feature

...Taylor Made, Fernando are also top contenders

The running of the $1.1-million Rimsky Trophy takes centre stage at Caymanas Park tomorrow where nine runners will battle for supremacy over 6 furlongs (1,200m).

The contest is a Restricted Allowance II event for native-bred three-year-olds (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-olds and upward (maidens).

Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at each runner and their chances of winning.

1. FIDELITY: (3 b g by Bern Identity – Hush My Darling) – Was never a factor in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes on December 26, 2025 when he finished in 12th position by 56 lengths behind winner We Jammin in the one-mile (1,600m) event. Fidelity is expected to run a much-improved race at this shorter distance.

2. COMUNA TRECE (USA): (3 b c by Maximum Security – My Anguilla) – Has some ability but is likely to be left behind.

3. VICTORIOUS LINKS: (3 b f by Western Warrior – Victory Turn) – Was a fighting winner on debut over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on January 3. Victorious Links should make her presence felt here with expected improvement.

4. TAYLOR MADE: (3 gr f by Aveenu Malcainu – Another Fury) – Made an encouraging debut on December 21, 2025 when making all to win over 5 furlongs (1,000m) round by 2 ¼ in 1:02.0. The final time was nothing to brag about but the manner in which she won says a lot about
Taylor Made’s potential. Look for a good run from her here.

5. MOHANLAL: (3 b c by Casual Trick – Raise Your Voice) – Mohanlal destroyed rivals by 8 ½ lengths in the Miss Ruth Trophy (6 furlongs) event on December 20, 2025. He has been training well for his seasonal debut and he has a good chance of winning after that strong win.

6. FERNANDO: (3 ch c by Successful Native – Dancing Queen) – Finished in third place by 7 ¾ lengths in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes. Fernando, who has been training well, is going to love the conditions of this race and is one of the top contenders to take home the trophy.

7. ANY MEANS (USA): (3 gr c by Leofrie – Necessary) – Finished fourth on debut behind
Phenomenal Power on December 13, 2025. With nothing as brilliant as Phenomenal Power here,
Any Means has an outside chance.

8. UNCLE NALLY: (3 b c by Successful Native – Kit De Luca) – A winner on last who is not expected to repeat.

9. MIDNIGHT TRAVELLER: (3 cf f by Aveenu Malcainu – Esperanza) – Has no chance of winning.
