Roman reaches 400 wins at Caymanas Park
Two-time defending champion jockey Raddesh Roman reached a milestone 400th career win at Caymanas Park on Saturday, riding The Hot Dancer to a commanding victory in the fifth race on Saturday’s 11-race card.
The race was a three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($500,000-$400,000) race that included native-bred six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four), imported six-year-olds and upward, and native-bred five-year-old (non-winners of three) over five and a half furlongs (1,100m).
The Hot Dancer won the race by nine-and-a- half lengths, beating Wilson and Ruby’s Light in 1:07.4. The Hot Dancer is owned by Anthony Nunes, who also trained the winning horse.
The Hot Dancer was the first of three winners on the day for Roman. Roman then won aboard
Money Box in the sixth race for trainer Adrian Prince and aboard Fernando for Nunes in the 10th race — the $1.1-million Rimsky Trophy feature.
Racing continues on Saturday.
