The Wright Timing
Far from being a coincidence, the love story of Stephan Wright and Yanique Bailey was a divine appointment, their relationship being ignited by a simple gesture in November 2011. While attending a convocation at Holy Ghost Power Ministries in St Catherine, a pastoral invitation for the choir to greet each other became the fateful moment that launched their spiritually rooted bond.
“During the service, the preacher instructed all the choirs to switch seats, and that’s how we ended up sitting beside each other,” Yanique shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). “There were multiple calls to ‘touch your neighbour,’ and when we did, that interaction marked the beginning of our relationship.”
Their connection continued to deepen on Facebook Messenger after the service, nurturing a friendship that soon saw romantic feelings emerge. The path forward was complicated, though, as they had to navigate the geographical distance between Stephan, who resided in St Thomas, and Yanique in St Catherine.
“Though I would constantly block and delete him — even while he vowed to one day change my last name — we spent a year apart, living separate lives, until the realisation dawned that we were truly destined for one another,” Yanique said.
Once their destiny was clear, they became inseparable, culminating in Stephan’s proposal on December 26, 2024.
“As his family’s Christmas gathering came to a close and everyone gathered together, he took me into the centre of the room and dropped to one knee,” Yanique recounted. “I was completely clueless, as I hadn’t expected him to propose without any of my friends or family present.”
Surrounded by loved ones, Stephan and Yanique celebrated their nuptials on November 15, 2025, at the Hotel Four Seasons in Kingston. The venue, transformed tastefully by Caribee Exquisite Event and Décor, provided a stunning backdrop. To the tones of Nathaniel Bassey’s See What The Lord Has Done, Yanique, a vision in a Lux Bridal ball gown, was escorted up the aisle by her father, Conrad Bailey, to her waiting groom. Bishop Cleveland Mattis and Evangelist Annalisa Mattis presided over the ceremony as the couple exchanged vows.
The celebration flowed seamlessly into the reception. Following dinner, Stephan and Yanique were enveloped in warm wishes as their loved ones offered toasts. The couple then cut their two-tiered wedding cake by Trinity Club, and then graced the dance floor to the sound of Stevie Wonder’s
For Your Love — a perfect closing note to their beautiful day.
The newly-weds spent their honeymoon in Panama.
