Another cold front set to impact Jamaica after midweek trough
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological Service of Jamaica is forecasting that a trough and another cold front are expected to affect the island over the coming days.
The weather service shared that in the wake of the cold front which has affected the island over the past few days, a trough over the western Caribbean is expected to move across Jamaica late Tuesday night and persist through to Thursday.
This trough is likely to bring cloudy skies along with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times. These conditions are expected to affect sections of most parishes, with northern parishes being particularly vulnerable, from early Wednesday through Thursday.
Meanwhile, another cold front is projected to impact the island on Friday. Although this system is expected to be weaker than the current one, it is still forecast to bring cooler temperatures and strong winds on Friday and into the weekend, especially across northern parishes.
Fishers and other marine interests are being urged to exercise extreme caution. Sea conditions are expected to deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, and further deterioration is anticipated from Friday due to strong gusty winds.
The Meteorological Service says it will continue to monitor these systems and provide updates as necessary.
