GG to deliver Throne Speech at ceremonial opening of Parliament Feb 12
The ceremonial opening of Parliament to mark the start of the 2026 legislative session will take place on Thursday, February 12 at Gordon House, beginning at 11:00 am.
As is customary, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen will deliver the Throne Speech at the joint sitting of the Parliament, outlining the Government’s legislative agenda for the upcoming parliamentary year.
Following the Throne Speech, the House of Representatives will convene at 2:00 pm for the tabling of the 2026/2027 Estimates of Expenditure.
The proceedings will also feature the formal arrival of state officials, members of both Houses of Parliament and other dignitaries, and will include the traditional inspection of the Guard of Honour.
