Carey McLeod, Lamara Distin get season’s best marks in Europe
KINGSTON, Jamaica —World indoors bronze medallist Carey McLeod finished third in the men’s long jump with a season’s best 8.22m at the Belgrade indoor meeting held at Atletska dvorana on Wednesday.
McLeod, the two-time national champion is ranked fifth in the world so far, finished behind Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Saraboyukov who won with a world leading 8.45m and Greece’s World and Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou (8.27m).
On Tuesday, Jamaica’s national record holder Lamara Distin jumped a season’s best 1.94m to place second in the women’s high jump at the High Jump meeting: Beskyd bar in Trinec, Czechia.
Distin was second to Australia’s Eleanor Patterson who cleared 1.97m, while Poland’s Maria Zodzik was third with 1.91m.
Distin, the Commonwealth Games champion in 2022, improved on the 1.93m she cleared on Saturday at the Městská sportovní hala, Hustopeče, also in Czechia.
