Technical agronomist Branatic Neufville advancing Jamaica’s crop productivity
IN the evolving landscape of Jamaican agriculture, Branatic Neufville, a technical agronomist at Newport-Fersan (Jamaica) Limited, is bridging the gap between traditional farming and modern agricultural science.
A proud alumnus of the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE), where he earned his bachelor of science in plant science, Neufville leverages his academic rigour to solve complex agricultural challenges. Beyond his frequent on-the-ground field visits and farmer’s training sessions, Neufville is a key architect of precise nutrient management programmes tailored to the unique needs of Jamaican farmers.
These data-driven programmes are designed to optimise plant nutrition at every stage of the growth cycle, ensuring that farmers achieve maximum productivity while maintaining cost-efficiency.
“Maximum productivity is not a matter of chance; it begins with a comprehensive understanding of the soil’s physicochemical properties, water quality, and specific crop requirements,” explained Neufville.
“By analysing the interplay between the macro and micro environments, we can implement precision nutrition programmes that unlock a crop’s full genetic potential, mitigate crop stress, and increase protection.”
Through his work at Newport-Fersan, Neufville is not just helping farmers grow crops; he is helping them engineer success. By equipping them with the technical knowledge to navigate the complexities of soil science and environmental variables, he remains a vital figure in the national push for sustainable food security and agricultural excellence.
