Suckoo scores hat-trick as Florindia shines in Allan E ‘Billy’ Williams Memorial Trophy
APPRENTICE jockey Tajay Suckoo made a statement on Saturday, February 28, 2026, scoring three wins including a dominant performance with Florindia in the $1.25-million Allan E “Billy” Williams Memorial Trophy over seven furlongs (1,400m).
Florindia made one move to win the Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward by 9¼ lengths in a time of 1:25.3 (24.1 x 47.2 x 1:12.3). Stablemate Miss Grove (Paul Francis) finished second while Sensational Soul (Dane Dawkins) finished third.
The young rider started his celebration in the third race when he won aboard 15-1 long shot The Soul Warrior in the $750,000 East Queen Street and Ocho Rios OTB Trophy. Trained by Donovan Russell, The Soul Warrior outbattled rivals in deep stretch to win easily by five lengths in the Restricted Allowance IV contest for native-bred five-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three), and imported five-year-olds and upward (non-winners of two) over 7½ furlongs (1,500m). Suckoo’s other winner on the 10-race card was aboard Another Wow in the $1.05-million Manchester Road OTB Trophy, a maiden conditioned race for native-bred three-year-olds over 6½ furlongs (1,300m). Also trained by Nunes, Another Wow was a 10¼-length winner ahead of stablemate Passion and Beyond (Raddesh Roman) and Red ThirtyTwo (Dane Dawkins) in a time of 1:22.1 (24.1 x 47.2 x 1:12.3).
