Lime Hall’s perfect start in JFF Championship ends
High-flying Lime Hall Academy saw their three games winning start to the Jamaica Football Federation Championships come to an end while Humble Lion FC’s quest for a fourth straight also came to naught in last weekend’s fifth round of games.
Lime Hall Academy, who were held 1-1 by WiFi United are still leading Zone A on goal difference over Sakka Club Brown’s Town, while Roaring River FC, who won their third straight, took over the lead in Zone B with 11 points, one more than Humble Lion.
Meanwhile, Jamaica Defence Force and Falmouth United had big wins, beating Progressive FC 8-0 and Holland PYC 7-0, respectively.
Lime Hall Academy were sailing with three-straight wins before they were held by WiFi United, who are tied with Tru-Juice FC on eight points.
Humble Lion had outscored their opponents 11-1 after they opened the season with a 1-1 draw against Duncan’s United but were surprised 2-0 by STETHS Elite, who were coming off a 4-0 loss the previous weekend.
Kayvon Donaldson scored a hat-trick and Ahmal Nugent-Hudson scored a late double for Falmouth United, who got their first win of the season after three-straight losses.
Falmouth United led 5-0 at half-time with goals from Nicholus Samuels in the 18th minute, Donaldson in the 21st and Pheland Christie in the 35th before Donaldson completed his hat-trick with goals in the 36th and 38th minutes.
Nugent-Hudson rounded out the scoring with goals in the 76th and 90th minutes.
Roaring River have picked up steam after drawing their first two games and won their third straight with three late goals in the Westmoreland derby.
Kajaye Williams opened the scoring in the 73rd minute, Dainton Williams scored a second in the 77th minute while Jemoy Smith added a third in the 87th minute.
